Here is a small sample of the UCR Advocacy Handbook that I both designed and compiled for the UCR Office of Governmental and Community Relations. The purpose of the Advocacy Handbook is to provide information and guidelines that help volunteers effectively communicate with government officials on behalf of UCR. It includes insights into policy and budget issues affecting the university as well as information about key campus programs, personnel and accomplishments. It includes tips on letter-writing, research, and general communication skills. There is also a Reference Guide which contains additional information on the people and institutions that one will deal with as a volunteer advocate for UCR, as well as additional materials that enhance one's effectiveness as a participant in the UCR volunteer advocacy program.
